Bariatric High Protein Puree Diet

POD #22-28: All foods should be the consistency of baby food or thinner

  • It is very important to keep track of protein intake during this time. Inadequate protein intake can lead to delayed wound healing, hair loss, and muscle breakdown.
  • Eat several small portions (2-4 Tbsp each) of protein supplements. Aim for 80-120gm per day. Always eat foods with the highest protein first: milk, yogurt, cheese, egg whites, beans. Lean meats and seafood can be pureed with small amounts of broth in a food processor or blender.
  • Keep track of your fluid intake. You should be drinking at least 48oz of fluids per day.
  • It is okay to eat Stage 1 baby food.
  • Portion size is about the size of your palm (3-4oz).
