Bariatric High Protein Regular Diet
Follow a high protein, low carb, low fat lifestyle LIFELONG
- You may slowly add the following, one-by-one, back to the diet. Please chew foods very well before swallowing. If you do not tolerate a food, please wait at least 2-4 weeks before trying it again.
- Raw, crunchy vegetables (artichoke, asparagus, baby corn, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, carrots, celery, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, green onions, lettuce, pea pods, radishes, water chestnuts)
- Plain, unsalted seeds and nuts
- Protein bar with 0-4gm of sugar (Think Thin, Atkins, Pure Protein, Quest, Cake Bites, Power Crunch, ONE)
- Continue to get in between 80-120gm of protein per day every day using foods and protein shakes
- Aim for 64oz of fluids per day every day
- Limit fruits to 2 servings per day. One serving is 1 small whole fruit, ½ cup cubed fruit, 1 fruit cup (NOT IN SYRUP), or ½ cup canned fruit (in water or own juice)
- Limit nuts and seeds to ¼ cup per day total (high in calories)

Remember: No drinking with meals

12 pm | 2oz grilled chicken on salad, 2 Tbsp Marzetti’s Simply Dressed dressing, 1 apple | Taco Lettuce Wraps: 2oz lean ground beef, sprinkle low fat cheese, tomatoes, salsa wrapped in lettuce leaves |
12:30 – 2:30 pm | Water or SF beverage | Water or SF beverage |
3 pm | Protein Shake | Protein Shake |
3:30 – 5:30 pm | Water or SF beverage | Water or SF beverage |
6 pm | Grilled shrimp kabobs (2oz shrimp, pineapple chunks, bell peppers, onions) with ¼ cup sauteed spinach and garlic (use Pam) | 2oz Grilled pork chop, ¼ cup mashed cauliflower, and a small side salad with dill, 2 cherry tomatoes, and fresh squeezed lemon |
